Planning clay tile orders and substitutions

Protect a project schedule while keeping product selection, accessories and approvals aligned.

Confirm the complete order

Obtain written availability for the exact profile, finish, blend and accessory schedule. Stock field tile does not necessarily mean matching ridge or special pieces are ready. Ask the supplier to distinguish current stock, scheduled production and custom work. Record the date of the availability statement and the conditions attached to it.

Review a substitute as a new proposal

Compare material, coverage, weight, profile, attachment requirements and accessory details, as well as appearance. Check whether approvals, drawings or warranty terms need revision. A similar color does not establish interchangeability. Have the responsible designer and installer review the proposed change before it is ordered or introduced into an existing roof.

Coordinate delivery and roof access

Agree on protected storage, handling, inspection on arrival and responsibility for damaged units. Coordinate delivery with weather protection and the sequence of removing existing roofing. Keep a record of batches and accepted samples where color blending matters. A small agreed supply of labeled spare tiles can support future repairs, but the amount should be set for the particular project rather than copied from a generic percentage.
