Confirm exactly what the sheet describes
Start with manufacturer, product name, profile, document date and any regional limitations. A sheet for a similar tile or an older product may contain different information. Save a copy in the project record alongside the source URL and retrieval date. If a distributor supplies the document, compare it with the manufacturer’s library before relying on it.
Distinguish unit dimensions from coverage
Overall tile length and width are not installed exposure. Tiles overlap, interlock or use separate cover pieces, so coverage depends on the specified layout. Likewise, a weight per tile differs from a weight per roofing square or square foot. Write the units beside every number in your estimate. Do not convert a field-tile count into a complete order without accounting for hips, ridges, edges, cuts and breakage.
Identify what is missing
A product sheet may summarize a material without supplying the complete roof assembly. Locate the applicable installation manual, fastening information, accessory details and approval documents separately. Mark unresolved items for the designer or installer: slope, substrate, underlayment, exposure, local wind requirements and structural capacity. A useful submittal closes these questions rather than collecting unrelated brochures.
